About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join the Qatar Airways Group Medical Department as Senior Pharmacy Technician. This role is responsible for overseeing the work of pharmacy technicians across two critical areas of dispensary and the aircraft medical kit operations. This role involves managing technician schedules, ensuring adherence to pharmacy and drug control standards, and certifying the quality and compliance of aircraft medical kits. Responsible to play a key role in maintaining the QR Medical Center’s standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, supporting Qatar Airways’ commitment to staff health and safety.

Your duties would include:

• Implement and manage the roster for pharmacy technicians across both dispensary and medical kit operations to ensure optimal coverage, operational efficiency, and balanced workloads.
• Act as a mentor for pharmacy technicians, providing ongoing guidance and support to maintain high standards of work quality and compliance with regulatory practices.
• Oversee day-to-day tasks performed by pharmacy technicians, ensuring adherence to pharmacy and drug control protocols in both the dispensary and medical kit operations.
• Conduct regular reviews and quality checks on refilled aircraft medical kits, verifying that all items are accurately stocked, up-to-date, and meet specified standards before certifying each kit for compliance.
• Work closely with pharmacy technicians to manage and monitor inventory in the dispensary and medical kit operations, ensuring stock accuracy, timely replenishment, and adherence to safety protocols for handling pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain detailed records and documentation related to medical kit certifications, inventory usage, and quality control checks to ensure compliance and support audits and inspections.
• Assists the pharmacist in preparation and dispensing of medications and ensures that the medications are prepared accurately under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Performs dosage calculations for medication orders and undertakes multiple checks on prepared medications.
• Complies with local rules and regulations in regard to pharmacy activities, including but not limited to preparation, labelling and delivery of medication and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Receive pharmaceutical and consumable orders from suppliers, ensure accurate product quantity and information as per purchase order and invoice before signing delivery note.
• Prepare Medical Kits packing station according to each kit content, pack and refill barcoded pharmaceuticals inside the Medical Kits, ensuring pharmaceuticals are recorded on the system under the kit serial number, and can be tracked/recalled if required.
• Perform quality checks of all Medical Kit existing items, and issue Medical Kits conformity certificate accordingly.
• Witness the procedure and confirm the quantity of packed Psychotropic and Narcotic substances inside EMK, and sign EMK documents accordingly. Ensure medical kits are sealed, stored at the correct location and secured against unauthorized access.
• Establish and maintain clear, accurate and legible documentation records for pharmacy and medical kits documents, files, on-board Controlled Drugs usage report/in-flight medical reports, Pharmacy inspection reports and other regulatory documents with applicable legalization, regulations, policies and standards.
• Responsible for the pharmaceuticals and medical kits storage locations/shelves layout to ensure first in first out procedure is followed at all times, and work towards achieving zero expiry of pharmaceutical.
• Co-ordinate with Qatar Airways Catering Company, Qatar Airways Catering Services and Supply Chain for the collection and drop off of medical kits and other materials required for operation.
• Identify/locate, report and remove expired, defective, unsafe or recalled drugs.
• Assist Company Pharmacist during planned or random stock audit by performing physical counting of stock/inventory and report any discrepancies to on-duty Company Pharmacist.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our Group Medical team. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

• Diploma in Pharmacy with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience
• Able to hold pharmacy technician license to practice the profession in Qatar
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory position
• Proficiency and experience in inventory management, quality control, and regulatory compliance
• Experience in drug handling, storage, and documentation standards
• At least three years’ experience in handling Aircraft medical kits operations preferred
• Relevant Vocational, Tertiary or Trade qualification
• Working experience in Aviation industry is preferred
• Certification or diploma recognized in the field of pharmacy technology will be an advantage
