What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Site Lead, Continuous Improvement  and Master Black Belt Mentor to serve as the CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) Leader and Process Control Master Black Belt Mentor for the site.

RTXs operating system, CORE, focuses on the drivers of competitive excellence, our people and our work processes. The Site Lead, Continuous Improvement  and Master Black Belt Mentor will lead deployment and execution of the process control sub-discipline within key operational organizations and drive lean culture.

The Site Lead, Continuous Improvement  and Master Black Belt Mentor will dramatically improve the company’s quality and delivery signature using Lean Principles and Statistical Process Control / Six Sigma methodologies. As a member of the Pratt & Whitney Columbus Forge Blades team, this person will be a key member of a dynamic team responsible for manufacturing and delivering airfoils to the aerospace industry, both defense and commercial.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and connecting all employees with experiences to make our business better; provide an expert level of understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and execution; develop and create a lean organization by building effective teams, structures, and processes across multiple departments; serve as key resource for OpX (Operational Excellence) initiative deployment, including CORE competency development and Standard Production System (SPS)

  • Be a proactive change agent who embodies the companys commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and achieving measurable results; partner with the Columbus Forge Blades business leaders to understand their most important requirements.

  • Drive improvement strategies; work and mentor with a team of selected site Leaders to set goals and objectives for Columbus Forge Blades CORE & Lean maturity. 

  • Develop the organization’s employees in Process Control proficiency by coaching, mentoring and coordinate execution of required training – Green Belts, Black Belts, Master Black Belts and Champions.

  • Partner with Columbus Forge Blades Engineering and Quality Team members, Operational Excellence Leaders as a change agent on execution of key initiatives to achieve operational results.

  • Work with senior management project champions and other Black Belts (Including other Master Black Belts) to:

    • Support the Green Belt and Black Belt project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) initiatives
    • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure sign off on Formal Gate reviews.
    • Ensure technical quality of Process Control Green Belt and Black Belt projects. Identify gaps in project execution and engage appropriate resources to address either knowledge gaps or execution gaps to ensure projects deliver intended results.
  • Lead teams to resolve critical problems that involve consideration of multiple variables across multiple organizations including customers and suppliers; coach plant leadership to implement the Lean Operating System and assist Operations leaders to develop self- sufficiency within sites

  • Positively affect KPI change, including, but not limited to:

    • Lead Time (Days to Manufacture) decreases
    • On Time Start increases
    • Productivity increases
    • SRR Reduction
    • Schedule Stabilization improvement
    • Inventory reduction/optimization
    • Percent of parts with a Plan for Every Part

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or closely related technical discipline and 12 or more years experience in a continuous improvement, process improvement or quality role within an engineering, manufacturing, operations management or related industrial environment or a Masters degree and 10 or more years experience in a continuous improvement, process improvement or quality role within an engineering, manufacturing, operations management or related industrial environment

  • A recognized Six Sigma Black Belt certification with an ability to achieve Master Black Belt within a year

  • Demonstrated ProCert/Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience

  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence and mentor teams to drive significant improvements in Lean and Operational Excellence.

  • Expertise in Lean methodologies, experience in managing cross-functional teams, and a solid understanding of industry best practices for operational efficiency

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully resolving complex operational issues, improving key performance indicators, and effectively coaching plant leadership to foster self-sufficiency.

  • Knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and prior experience using Minitab and other statistical software; proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • MBA/Masters degree

  • CORE Practitioner certification

  • Understanding of other continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.

  • Raytheon Technologies (RTX) CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) Apprentice Certification or 4 or more years of working experience in lean, continuous improvement, or operations

  • Experience supporting large scale continuous improvement initiatives across functions

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
