About the role




As the Skywards Analytics Manager you will be responsible for leading a team of embedded data analysts to manage the delivery of analytical solutions & insights that empower decision-making, drive revenue, improve member engagement, member experience, and overall effectiveness of the Skywards loyalty program. The Skywards Analytics Manager will oversee the design, delivery, and maintenance of self-service assets, coordinate quarterly analytics demand delivery, and influence department-level decisions through the analytics working group. You will lead exploratory projects and champion the adoption of advanced analytics, including data science, machine learning, and test-and-learn methods in the context of loyalty. 



What you will do




  • Lead a team of data analysts to manage everyday analytics demand from a suite of functionally aligned portfolios.

  • Design, deliver, maintain & enhance a suite of analytical assets comprising foundational reports, dashboards & capabilities promoting self-service in assigned portfolios.

  • Design, deliver, maintain & enhance business-critical and cross-functional KPI reporting & related assets, including KPI governance and KPI (balanced) scorecards.

  • Coordinate the sourcing, selection, prioritization, channelling & delivery of quarterly analytics, insights & data demand to internal & external delivery teams.

  • Manage exploratory analytics & insights projects & initiatives working closely with internal and external resources and teams.

  • Champion advanced analytics use-cases including those involving the use of data science models & test-and-learn methods. Translate business needs into data science briefs and lead discussions with central data science team.

  • Represent Skywards at company analytics forums and collaborate with various central teams including analytics, data science, data governance, and BI delivery teams to progress key Skywards analytics objectives.

  • Leverage the analytics working group comprising business nominees to influence department-level decisions and outcomes.

  • Upskill the wider business user community in the use of analytics leveraging formal learning and development levers, including online learning, bootcamps, coaching clinics, conferences etc.

  • Manage, coach, develop and motivate team members, ensuring they understand their objectives and have the necessary skills to execute their role effectively. 

Job Requirements:

This job might be for you if you have:




  • Degree or Honours (12 +3 or equivalent) in a quantitative field such as Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science. Advanced degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, preferably in airline, transportation, hospitality, or loyalty domains. Experience managing a high-performance team preferred. 



Knowledge/Skills: 




  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data modelling, data visualisation, and analytics tools such as SQL, Snowflake (or similar), PowerBI (or similar). Competence in Statistics, Python, R, and Dataiku (or similar) preferred. Experience with Loyalty/CRM/airline databases and segmentation techniques a plus.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong capability in handling, joining, and analysing large and varied datasets to derive actionable insights. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy a must.

  • Communication Skills: Superior communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments and across organizational levels.

  • Management Skills: Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, culturally diverse, and dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.

  • Leadership Skills: Competency in inspiring, managing and developing a high-performance team preferred.
