• ​ The American mobile app has over 40M downloads, and the organization is expanding rapidly. In this phase of hyper-growth, we are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the mobile application organization, overseeing multiple engineering managers and architects to support American’s critical business initiatives.
• This role will ensure the success of the teams delivering features that incrementally add value to the product, driving optimum customer engagement. These new features generate increased revenue, improve operational efficiencies, build loyalty, and close competitive gaps. You will provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to engineering managers and architects, ensuring alignment and collaboration across teams. Additionally, you will remove any roadblocks to delivery, keep the business apprised of project status and any delays, and drive the organization toward technical excellence and strategic outcomes.

• Collaborate closely with product management, design, and business stakeholders to align technical initiatives with strategic goals.
• Ensures that sound agile project management, business analysis, and quality assurance processes are in place and practiced
• Creates environment for delivery teams to be self-governing organizations who are accountable for their own performance and delivery commitments
• Exhibits a desire for continuous learning and sharing of new knowledge within the organization
• Removes roadblocks, cultivates relationships, and effectively communicates across Enterprise at various levels of leadership
• Leads, influences, and upholds technology standards and goals to ensure visibility and predictability
• Manages and tracks project/program schedules and budgets with controller(s), as appropriate
• Manages and leads adoption and migration of new and emerging technologies
• Maintains an effective approach on problem solving, multi-tasking, coordinating and scheduling in accordance with stated goals to ensure visibility and predictability
• Leads, develops, and mentors a high performing team of individuals with a diverse range of skills and experiences
• Manages production issues and off-hours support, communication, and coordination
• Works extended hours occasionally, based on the needs of the project and the operation
• Travels, as required

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing multiple teams
• 7+ years of experience working with mobile platforms (iOS, Android) and mobile application development frameworks
• Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale mobile application development efforts, preferably in customer-facing apps with high usage volumes
• Knowledge of Agile and DevOps principles, with experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based architectures
• Experience with API design and integration, mobile security best practices, and performance optimization techniques.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Airline industry experience, including business process and supporting technology

• Experience in managing, supporting, and delivering mission-critical projects/migrations
• Experience working with Agile project management methodologies and tools
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects/work streams and demands efficiently
