The Supervisor – Security Operations is responsible for leading a dynamic team of Security Operations Specialists who staff a 24/7/365 security operations desk at the American Airlines Integrated Operations Center (IOC). The Security Operations (SecOps) Team is responsible for ensuring all day of travel operational security incidents and risks are assessed and actioned in an appropriate manner to protect American Airlines team members, customers, and assets. Additionally, SecOps is the primary operational interface with multiple government agencies, including the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

What youll do

  • Publish Security Operations & Risk products to key stakeholders as scheduled and as operationally necessary due to security events 
  • Responsible for tactical management and mitigation of risks associated with escalated security incidents 
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching and counseling, and recognition 
  • Maintain operational oversight for security events during days of assigned duty 
  • Develop and maintain Security Operations policy and procedure documents as government and internal process change 
  • Maintain rapport with key stakeholders within the IOC, Corporate Security, and stations 
  • Develop employees for promotion opportunities and provide career guidance 
  • Partner with leaders and colleagues across organizations promoting collaboration and positive outcomes 
  • Responsible for maintaining SecOps Specialist’s schedules to ensure 24/7/365 staffing of the desk 
  • Set specific objectives and key performance measures for the SecOps team 
  • Responsible for administrative management (time and attendance) actions for the SecOps team 
  • Interpret regulatory security requirements and provide feedback for efficient implementation 
  • Initiate employee hire, promotion, discharge, or transfer as needed 
  • Prepare training materials for all new hires as well as supervise on-the-job training 
  • Maintain employee records and personnel files 
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of AA systems and applications including Sabre Res/DECS, QIK Check, Gate Reader, Everbridge, VIPER, SEMPER, and understand contingency and resolution measures for issues with those systems 
  • Ability to work any shift or portion of a shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong aptitude for problem solving 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Previous operations experience 
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to present work concisely 
  • Effective organization and planning skills 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint  
  • Speak audibly and clearly in order to communicate with internal and external customers 
  • Familiarity with company rules, regulations and conditions which may conflict with standard company procedures 
  • Detailed knowledge of AA systems including PSS, native Sabre, and FOS. 
  • Understanding of passenger and crew security programs such as Secure Flight AQQ, APP and ESTA/ETA
  • Understanding of TSA Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (AOSSP) and American Airlines Airline Operator Security Program (AOSP) 
  • Travel required – 10
