Job Description:

Tasks

The Surplus Trading Manager is responsible for:

  • Monitor the surplus spanet to identify new material sources and customers
  • Conduct spanet and competitor analysis to provide insights and drive regional growth
  • Manage vendors and customers to maintain and develop business relations
  • Oversee sourcing and sales of surplus materials to optimize costs and revenues
  • Forecast, track, and achieve surplus purchasing and sales targets
  • Buy aircraft, manage component teardowns, and oversee APAC teardown projects
  • Align with internal teams to source required assets and materials
  • Evaluate surplus materials, prepare reports, and present findings
  • Participate in meetings to share spanet insights and coordinate activities
  • Identify and implement internal improvements to achieve business goals

 

* Other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a combination of the below requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in Engineering or Aviation
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering or technical purchasing, ideally in aviation MRO or similar services
  • Experience in sales or purchasing of surplus components preferred
  • Knowledge to check repair certificates, trace, & aircraft component data
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, & planning skills
  • Effective communication, negotiation, & customer management skills
  • High ability to handle time pressure
  • Proficient in MS Office; SAP experience preferred
  • Fluent in English; Mandarin, Cantonese, or German is a plus
  • Willing to travel extensively within APAC, Germany, & the USA
