Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate Technical Program Manager to join its Integrated Flight and Propulsion Control System Program Management team. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in aerospace or other relevant industry along with knowledge and experience in equipment and/or system development who will assume responsibilities to assist in planning, schedule development, team organization, task delegation, and IPT coordination for the program.The position will be located in our Santa Cruz, CA offices, and will actively work with various diverse teams at Joby Aviation including equipment design and analysis, quality, systems engineering, system safety, manufacturing, supply chain, integration and test, certification, and more. This role will operate in a fast-paced, demanding yet rewarding environment with high expectations for individual contribution and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Integrated Product Team Technical and Program leadership to develop and maintain project timeline, create clear metrics and dashboards to proactively track and manage progress to program milestones, and coordinate the relevant tasks with internal team members towards completion
  • Evaluate project schedule progress and performance, understand dependencies to other IPT tasks, and proactively anticipate and manage the critical path and other developing problem areas
  • Coordinate, manage, and delegate other key activities within the scope of IPT Systems Engineering such as System Verification, Risk Management, and Safety
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary program reviews throughout the different phases of development, certification, and production as required to coordinate and communicate system design progress and readiness
  • Support program management team by implementing schedule changes into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), maintaining timely and effective change management processes and procedures
  • Present and report on various areas of the project to the Lead Program Manager
  • Facilitate implementation of new processes and improvements
  • Monitor work and help resolve impediments to progress
  • Facilitate communication, discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
Required
  • Bachelor’s in engineering or relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic equipment engineering environment with responsibility for project scheduling and management
  • Expertise in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Confluence, JIRA and Smartsheet
  • Proficiency in common workplace software: MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details
  • Demonstrated experience in the simultaneous management of multiple high-paced engineering projects
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong ability to build work relationships and develop respect and earn the trust of teammates
  • Flexibility to interface in a multi-location work environment with diverse personalities and different perspectives
Desired
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with the aerospace development life cycle
  • Equipment or system development for aviation and aerospace applications
  • Working knowledge of DO-160G environmental qualification
  • Knowledge of and experience in managing laboratory verification activities
  • Experience with FAA certification processesCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $116,600 - $195,800/year.
