Transformation Project Manager

Your role

As a Transformation Project Manager in the Operations Department, you will be accountable for managing multiple technical and operations focused cross-functional projects simultaneously and will ensure the successful delivery of those projects on time, within budget and to the quality expected. Our Operations Department helps us to drive Aer Lingus’ ambition by interacting with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that projects are actively and successfully managed from inception through to delivery.

 

Your responsibilities as a Transformation Project Manager will include:

  • Perform the relevant project management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control and close, as well as the supporting processes e.g. scope, quality, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management.
  • Owns delivery of projects aligned to overall business and technology strategies by managing day-to-day operational aspects to enable successful and timely completion of projects.
  • Effectivity challenge and support the technical delivery, working closely with technical teams across software engineering, networks, infrastructure and applications.
  • Monitor, control and report on project work to ensure that the projects remain on track from a cost, quality and timing perspective.  Ensuring reporting is suitable for Executive review which can adapt and change as needed.
  • Seeks to resolve, or appropriately escalate, matters impacting the scope, cost, time or quality of project delivery in a timely manner in conjunction with the relevant Business Owner, Director of Operations Change & Transformation and Exec Sponsor as appropriate.
  • Support development of business cases with input from business sponsor and technology delivery team.
  • Working with all impacted business areas, proactively monitor the risks, issues and dependencies to ensure a successful delivery and provide mitigation options to deal with impacts arising.
  • Develop objectives and measurable value metrics to deliver on the business case benefits, budget and timescales.
  • Performs gate reviews and quality assurance reviews with all key stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Manage external contracts and suppliers where required.
  • Guides the Operations team effectively as they execute on individual projects, providing on-the-job coaching, training and hands on support to assist in improving business project management of smaller project deliveries within their day to day activities.

Your qualifications and key criteria

We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification - PMP/Prince 2 certification is desirable.
  • 3-5 years of project management experience gained in both waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of the rigour & governance standards expected within a high performing Programme arena.
  • Strong technical background working on application/system enhancement projects.
  • Strong knowledge of internal financial and technology governance processes.
  • Track record of managing multiple large, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of working cross-functionality to achieve successful delivery of a shared objective.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, commitment, and flexibility.
  • Experienced in negotiation and managing to contract or agreement and clearly communicating and assessing deviation from same.
  • Track record of operation focused experience.
  • Enthusiastic, curious, energetic, and resilient in the face of a continuously changing landscape.
  • Demonstrable conflict resolution skills and experience driving the resolution of any project risks or conflicts.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite – Including Project, Visio, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Comfortable making complex technology problems simple for senior non-tech stakeholders to understand.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
