Description
We are seeking a highly skilled finance professional to join our dynamic Finance team as Vice President Technical Strategy and Transformation. The executive will be responsible for the design and successful implementation of the vision and strategy for Technical operations (MRO & CAMO functions), the management of associated projects and inter-dependencies, including oversight of any risks and issues arising, to achieve the business transformation objectives.
Accountabilities
Strategic:
- Lead the annual business related activities across the division to ensure the ongoing development and implementation of a clear strategic goals, while working in collaboration with senior management to support and facilitate the adoption thereof.
- Create institutionalised mechanisms for Strategy development, organisational review and redesign, stakeholder engagement.
- Lead transformation activities and initiatives across the division to deliver significant efficiencies and ensure realistic cost advantages.
- Oversight of long-term and annual strategic planning process for Technical operations, including ensuring a disciplined process to define, communicate, activate, and manage strategic initiatives that will drive achievement of long-term business goals and establish communications process and procedures to inform stakeholders.
- Lead the business case process such as but not limited to working on projects on strategy integration, process for re-engineering, technology and information-related projects to increase effectiveness, reduce costs and improve profit and shareholder value, to effectively implement required transformation.
- Manage relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment to common goals and objectives and team alignment.
- Leads the monitoring, identification and development of the strategic projects that are identified resulting from the business review, transformation and implementation.
Operational:
- Assess the current business state, identify gaps and develop a roadmap that aligns to the overall Qatar Airways Group’s vision and goals, as a Centre of Excellence for the Technical divisions (MRO and CAMO).
- Plans and designs the business transformation programme and roadmap, and proactively monitor its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
- Coordinate transformation activities across the Divisions, including the review of the core business model, to ensure alignment and the timely delivery of initiatives, to drive change in the long term.
- Ensures effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency, and outwardly on its coherence which interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards. Monitors and ensures Quality Control components (scope changes, milestone timelines, budget performance, resource usage, functionality changes are accurately communicated and reported).
- Managing the programmes budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses.
- Directs activities driven by the overall business transformation programme in line with the objectives of business transformation or process re-engineering to ensure that objectives pertaining to quality, time/cost-efficiency, and good governance are met. Contribute to Technical process development and innovation, business partner engagement and process initiative identification.
- Ensures that clear guidance is provided on adequate, effective and balanced allocation of resources and skills across the programme’s projects to ensure on-time completion of project commitments/timelines.
Stakeholder Management:
- Partner with the project stakeholders to communicate the strategic business direction/ goals/ requirements, developing effective working relationships and on-going management processes. Collaborates with relevant Project Managers, on the transition requirements, to ensure business continuity whilst all parallel projects are on-going.
- Manages risks affecting programmes successful outcome by ensuring that such risks and solutions are discussed during routine/periodic project team meetings and solutions are implemented.
- Serve as internal consultant for key business leaders in vetting strategic ideas, identifying growth opportunities, developing plans for key initiatives, and measure success/failure of existing initiatives. Work closely with the leadership of all departments, to plan, define, manage and communicate priorities for the transformation or change initiatives.
- Reports the progress of the programme to Technical Leads, and/or programme leads as may be applicable, through periodic meetings or progress reporting cycle to address any concerns that may affect the efficiency and continuity of the programme-related activities or projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Oversee spanet research or business model creation to support strategic opportunities under evaluation (spanet sizing, competitive analyses and SWOT analyses).
- Initiates activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise, to reduce if not eliminate, project disruptions. Provide executive leadership with advance notification or information on potential issues or sensitive matters requiring the CTO’s awareness and knowledge.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor`s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10+ years of job-related experience.
- Experience in project management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of development.
- Proven senior influencing and relationship management skills that demonstrate ability to balance and manage diverse stakeholder interest.
- Detailed understanding of the Technical value chain with professional experience in a range of key commercial functions.
- Command of English language.
- Strategic thinker and change agent. Ability to challenge current practices and to generate support for/and drive through change.
Preferred:
- Managerial role in an airline Technical/Engineering/Maintenance environment
