Morson Technical Services are currently seeking a Wildcat Base Maintenance Deputy Manager on a permanent basis based at RNAS Yeovilton

ABOUT -

Our Wildcat Base Maintenance team carry out 300 hourly zonal maintenance on the 62 strong fleet of Army and Navy Wildcat Helicopters. On a 17-week programme, teams strip, clean, inspect and rectify the aircraft to return to the front-line squadrons. Our qualified engineers work a days’ routine, fault finding and replacing components as required and ground running the aircraft prior to sending them forward.

DUTIES –

  • The WBM Deputy Manager is responsible to the to the WBM Manager for day-to-day engineering management of WBM at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton; ensuring that maintenance activities are met to the satisfaction of the WBM Manager and the Engineering Authority.
  • Act as Deputy to the WBM Manager. Whenever the Manager is absent, to act as the senior WBM representative at RNAS Yeovilton assuming all management responsibilities and authorisations, up to the technical authorisations within their Record of Engineering Authorisations. Responsibilities of the WBM Manager are at WMS OP 1501 Annex B1.
  • Act as the Engineering Deputy Manager for WBM. Assuming responsibility for airworthiness of allocated aircraft up to the technical authorisations held, deferring only to the airworthiness authorisations of the WBM Manager and Main Base Support Manger (MBSM) but being directly responsible for all Wildcat aircraft engineering matters both directly and indirectly.
  • Ensuring high engineering standards are maintained by all WBM personnel and on all aircraft related issues that affect airworthiness and availability.
  • Supervising and co-ordinating the maintenance activity of the WBM Teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Planning and co-ordinating significant unscheduled maintenance and repair activity.
  • Carry out all workforce planning, allocation of duties, responsibilities and administration including notifying WBM Manager of overtime, leave requests and time off in lieu for allocated personnel.
  • Assisting the WBM Manager in interviewing and recruiting maintenance personnel.
  • Be responsible for the general welfare and safety of allocated personnel.
  • Maintain oversight of the MF760 Fault Reporting system, ensuring that all defects are fully reported to the appropriate Authority in accordance with WMS OP 461.
  • Maintain oversight of the publications MF765 Unsatisfactory Feature Report (UFR) system and equivalent procedures for CIETP, ensuring that unsatisfactory features or suggested improvements are passed to the appropriate publications authority in accordance with WMS OP 313.
  • Support relevant Authorities with engineering advice and assistance on the maintenance and/or logistical support of the Wildcat Helicopter.
  • Support the wider WBM team to maintain delivery of output to the Front Line Command (FLC).
  • Be responsible for ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are fully complied with.
  • Ensure that GOLDesp procedures are completed by allocated personnel for all work IAW WMS OP408, JAP(D) 100A-0409 series and the MAM-P
  • To confirm Serious Fault Reports (SFR) before release.
  • Assist with the monitoring, Training, Competence and Currency requirements of WBM personnel as communicated from the WMS Compliance team.
  • Support the WMS in the development and mentoring of WBM personnel
  • Undertake any other related and relevant duties as directed by Management.E
  • stablish and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with all employees to ensure common business goals are understood and achieved and encourage all personnel involved in WBM activities to adopt a culture of continuous improvement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPIURECE -

  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent in an aviation related subject having service technical training to Artificer level or having under gone an equivalent civilian / military engineering apprenticeship and operated as a civilian engineering manager in a military aviation environment status.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an artificer or civilian equivalent, having held and exercised authorised powers of signature at that level to sign aircraft documentation
  • A deep understanding of all aspects of aircraft maintenance engineering, maintenance planning and documentation.
  • Self-motivated, able to take initiatives and work within teams.
  • Be able to communicate confidently and interface at all levels on a daily basis.
  • Good business and commercial awareness, with an understanding of contractual requirements and performance criteria.
