Advisor, Ground Operations Standards

Role Overview  

The Advisor, Ground Operations Standards, will develop and communicate standards, guidelines and procedures that enable frontline teams to create a safe and remarkable experience.   

Key deliverables 

  • Assist in development and maintenance of a robust Ground Service provider training Acceptance Program and Ground Operations Regulatory Acceptance Program that provide for reduced complexity, increasing operational efficiency and enabling significant cost savings from vendors. 

  • Participate and support change management process for ground operations related change activities that addresses safety, operational, and financial risk with related stakeholder engagement. 

  • Support Operational Training teams in ensuring the design and development of ground ops training programs support standards compliance and safety, cost, & operational goals. Create and provide content, expertise, & support. 

  • Create and publish clear and informative communications in the form of advisories, webinars, or other delivery channels that inform WestJet leaders and contracted service partners of changes to WestJet’s ground operations standards or programs. 

  • Maintain the Ground & Winter Operations Sharepoint site ensuring up to date and relevant content and ensure WestJet and contracted service partner reps have access to required ground operations documentation, information, tools, and manuals. 

  • Regularly conduct analysis on WestJets Ground Operations Program vs. IATA standards and recommended practices as well as Canadian and foreign regulations to identify opportunities and ensure ongoing alignment. 

Experience and qualifications  

  • 3-6 years of ground operations operational and Training experience. 

  • Understanding of domestic, transborder, and international airport operations is required.  

  • Advanced knowledge of ground operations processes and standards. 

  • General knowledge of industry standards related to ground operations such as IATA, ICAO, ETC. 

  • Experience supporting airports/airline initiatives involving global/network impacts. 

  • Experience in creation and publication of corporate communications. 

  • Experience in delivering virtual presentations. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with teams across the network while working remotely. 

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and deliverables during the same time. 

  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Excel).  

  • Post-secondary education is considered an asset.  

  • Experience with audit tools, such as Safetyculture, is an asset. 

  • Experience in project and change management is an asset. 

  • Understanding of risk assessments is an asset.
