POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include on-scene accident investigations andrequire 24 hourson call status. Perform extensive research and compose detailed aircraft accident reports. Interface with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), foreign governments, New Piper Departments.

The Job Location is preferred to be within two hours of the Phoenix, AZ, Dallas, TX, or Wichita, KS, which is convenient for commercial air travel.

Work from home.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

In preparation of an accident investigation must coordinate and determine means of travel, review weather conditions, proper clothing and equipment, based on the location and terrain of the accident site. Secure travel documents including passport and or visa as required.

Assist the NTSB, FAA, and/or other domestic and foreign governments, as a party to the investigation, in conducting extensive aircraft investigations. Document evidence and information as required.

Take photographs of the aircraft wreckage and surrounding accident site. Describe and index all photographs.

Follow up on any details of the accident as necessary including preparation of Freedom of Information Requests for government agencies as well as requests for others.

Conduct research and compose accurate detailed written factual aircraft accident investigation reports.

Attend and prepare written supplemental reports for involved aircraft engine, propeller and component examinations.

Perform other related duties as required.

Attend classes /seminars to promote product knowledge and investigative skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in a related aviation field and four years general aviation experience required or equivalent combination. Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems and components and working knowledge of personal computers and Windows based software is required to perform the duties in this position.

One or more of the following are required: Private pilots certificate, single/multi engine land and instrument ratings, an (A&P) Airframe and Powerplant mechanic licenses and/or an (IA) Aircraft Inspection Authorization.
