Job Description:
As Control & monitoring system engineer for cryogenic/electric propulsion (m/f), you will be part of a multinational team in charge of developing an advanced superconducting and cryogenic powertrain to enable high power electric propulsion systems for aircraft application.
You will have the responsibility to deliver the control & monitoring system activities feeding the main project development milestones: system development plan, specification, PDR, CDR, equipment & system TRL and you will be part of the team in charge of designing, prototyping and testing the control & monitoring system.
A hands-on approach is definitely applied across the project in order to develop, integrate and test the system on the test benches in Toulouse as well as in Munich and other lab infrastructure in Europe.
Given the limited timeframe and the high pace of the project, on-the-field debugging and fix activities are necessary to meet the technical targets.
This position is based in Toulouse and it comes with a limited contract till the end of December 2026, the deadline of the demonstrator.
You will be in charge of:
The specification of the hardware and software of the control & monitoring system which manages and supervises the powertrain from electrical sources to mechanical shaft.
Designing and developing of the control software with a model-based approach within the Mathworks environment (MATLAB/SIMULINK).
Deploying of the real-time software on Speedgoat target machine
Prototyping of instrumentation means on proof of concepts, such as Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) sensors and interrogator
Laboratory setup preparation, debugging and fine-tuning

What you bring
At least 5-10 years experiences in multidisciplinary technical activities (electrical, mechanical, thermal) from technology, design to prototyping and laboratory testing for aeronautic applications)
MSc or BSc in control system engineering or similar
Demonstrated track record of end-to-end project execution
Ability to manage and animate worldwide partners
Proven leadership experience of international multidisciplinary team
Knowledge in superconductivity state of the art and technologies usable for aeronautic applications would be appreciated
