Job Description:
As the Cryogenic electric propulsion modeling and simulation leader, you will be part of a multinational team in charge of developing an advanced superconducting and cryogenic powertrain to enable high power electric propulsion systems for aircraft application. It will be composed of a cryogenic DC/DC converter, a superconducting DC network with protections, a cryogenic motor drive, a superconducting electric motor and a cryogenic cooling system developed in a dynamic and emulating environment with worldwide partners including multiple research institutes, start-ups or larger industrial groups.
You will be based in Ottobrunn, Germany.
This position comes with a CDI-C contract for 3 years, the timeline of the demonstrator.
Responsibilities:
Managing overall Modelling & Simulation strategy ensuring overall consistency across all work packages
Gathering/formalizing all modeling and simulation needs (especially on simulation) from all work-packages
Identifying possible gaps with available modeling and simulation capabilities and identifying/engaging suitable partners.
Co-develop simulation models for design trades and system evaluations
Developing learning strategy and following-up learnings capitalization
Providing suitable evidences (M&S results) feeding the main project development milestones: development plan, specification, PDR, CDR, equipment & system TRL…
Drive academic partners and equipment suppliers

What you bring
Engineering degree or equivalent, PhD, in the field of electrical engineering or similar
Proven experience in electrical modeling, simulation, testing and V&V principles needed
Capability and willingness to understand technical topics at high level
Ability to manage and animate worldwide partners
Ability to manage/support TRL reviews internally and with partners
Well-built professional network including industrial players, research institutes, consultants, entrepreneurs
It will be appreciated experiences
Knowledge / Working experience in Aircraft Systems and/or in applied superconductivity, cryogenics technologies or equivalent is an advantage.
Knowledge / Working experience in multidisciplinary technical activities (electrical, mechanical, thermal) from technology, design to prototyping and laboratory testing
Knowledge / Previous experience with Fluid mechanics and related modeling and simulation solutions (Dymola, NX/TMG, AMESIM) would be a plus.
Knowledge / Working experience in project / programme management and/or willingness to develop this experience would be a plus
Negotiation level in English is required with excellent overall communications skills
Passionate about exploring new areas, working on equations and quickly implementing innovative ideas and concepts
