Job Description:

As a superconducting and cryogenic distribution WP leader, you will be part of a multinational team in charge of developing an ambitious project on an advanced superconducting and cryogenic powertrain to enable high power electric propulsion systems. It will be composed of a cryogenic DC/DC converter, a superconducting DC network with protections, a cryogenic motor drive, a superconducting electric motor and of a cryogenic system.

This position comes with a CDI-C contract for 3 years, the timeline of the demonstrator.

Responsibilities:

As a superconducting and cryogenic distribution work package leader, you will be in charge of designing, justifying, manufacturing and testing DC distribution protections and cables components. The deliverables of you and your team will be to:

  • Develop and characterize cryogenic/superconducting components (superconducting cable, cryostat, current leads, bus bars…) and the protection components of the powertrain (fault current limiter, circuit breaker)

  • Simulate and design superconducting DC link in nominal operation conditions as well as conditions with temperature, current deviation or failure.

  • Evaluate the main failure modes, the main critical DO160 criteria and follow tests to characterize them

  • Prototype superconducting DC link (cable, cryostat, protections) and evaluate working points and coolant options for superconducting powertrain.

  • Integrate and test it in the cryo/superconducting powertrain

  • Evaluate performances and potential of superconducting DC link for different propulsive applications

  • Provide the main project milestones for the DC link: development plan, spec, PDR, CDR, TRL assessment..

  • Drive industrial and academic partners

Your boarding pass

What you bring:

  • Expertise in cable, connectors and distribution components development, qualification and installation in aeronautic or others industries

  • Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and manage design or TRL reviews internally and with partners
