Purpose and Scope:
The Aircrew Support will provide airfield management services on a military base. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Brief the aircrew on aircraft and personnel security specific to AAAF and provides special security support as required.
- Communicate with aircrews to ensure they are briefed on at least: weather, route, altitude, airfield conditions, and other potential hazards to flight safety.
- Coordinate aircrew transportation needs to/from lodging, Base Ops, etc.
- Coordinate in-plane fueling operations of all DoD and authorized foreign aircraft.
- Receive, process, and ensure that flight plans and flight progress reports are correct and maintain all records on the Government information system.
- Assist the aircrew with all departure preparations and activities to enable the aircraft to take off on schedule.
- Supervise unloading and transport of passengers and aircrew from the flight line to the Ascension passenger terminal.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience briefing air crews on weather, potential hazards, and other required briefings.
- Must be able to complete and maintain certification to operate a vehicle on the airfield, to include meeting all color vision testing IAW AAFI 13-204 and local airfield driving instruction.
- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
- Ability to read and write English is required.
- Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
- Possess a valid driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
- Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- The Traffic Controller shall be located at Ascension Island.
- Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
- Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
