Job Description:
Do you have an eye for detail and a passion for developing innovation solutions? Join our team! As a Applied Computational Mathematician at SNC, your fundamental responsibility will be to derive value out of data. You will use your mathematical skills to develop and implement advanced mathematical models of physical systems to derive mission critical information. You will process, cleanse, and validate the data integrity of that data and enhance it where required using third party data sources and other techniques.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain numerical algorithms
Work closely with analyst and customer engagement teams to improve internal algorithms
Analyze algorithm output errors and advise leadership on recommended improvements
Work closely with software engineering team to deploy and maintain production algorithms

Must-haves:

Bachelors Degree in a related field with at least years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Data-oriented personality
Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
Understanding of mathematical modeling of physical systems
Understanding of numerical analysis and computation algorithm development

Preferred:

Familiarity with common Digital Signals Processing libraries and techniques
Familiarity with common math modeling tools such as Matlab, Octave, Maple, etc.
Familiarity with data visualization tools
Familiarity with software development and software development life cycle best practices
Familiarity with a common programming language used in numerical computation such as C, C++, FORTRAN, Python

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
