Overview

Spirit AeroSystems designs and builds aerostructures for both commercial and defense customers. With headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, Spirit operates sites in the U.S., U.K., France and Malaysia. The companys core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components for the worlds premier aircraft. Spirit AeroSystems focuses on affordable, innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions to support customers around the globe.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Support an enterprise-wide initiative to enhance drilling, milling and countersinking processes through better drill bits, drills, and equipment.
  • Work with shop mechanics and fellow team members to gather and document the problem statement and engineering requirements.
  • Effectively communicates with team members, management, and customers.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience OR master’s degree with 3-6 years of experience.
  • Candidates without qualifying degree should have 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Works well in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes highly preferred
  • Experience with manual drills, power feed drills, drill bits, drill plate technology is highly preferred.
  • Experience with machining and fabrication technologies highly preferred.
  • Experience with Automated systems (CNC equipment, Robotics, etc).
  • Proficiency writing and editing technical documents such as specifications and test reports
  • Experience with CAD packages such as CATIA or Solidworks
  • Hands-on experience using and operating laboratory equipment (Power tools, 3D printers, Laser cutters, CNC routers)
  • Critical thinker willing to generate and test new ideas
  • Experience working in a research and development setting
