Job Description:

To ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of cargo operations is maintained and continuously improved upon in order to consistently meet customer requirements and to ensure full compliance with legislative and company standards. 

Job Outline:



  • Identify, manage and implement operational strategies, policies and procedures to attain service quality and revenue objectives of SkyCargo operations within the region.

  • Provide operational policy guidelines to cargo operations staff to ensure uniformity of cargo operations standards. Investigate, address and resolve deviations from policy.

  • Plan, organize and direct operational activities for all online & offline points to ensure optimal and efficient cargo operation and productivity, delegating responsibilities to and managing staff and third party contractors as appropriate and within budget

  • Ensure that the GHA and other service suppliers are fully briefed regarding Emirates requirements and service levels. Monitor and oversee the service provided by GHA to ensure it is in line with EK standards, and where there are shortcomings, to address these appropriately and timeously

  • Ensure full compliance for health and safety in the operation

  • Provide technical and operational direction into Cargo commercial objectives in conjunction with the Cargo Manager, Sales Staff and Headquarters management.

  • To develop & implement revenue generating strategies for Cargo related operational activities, such as import & export document self-handling, in accordance with Company policies and SkyCargos overall commercial orientation.

  • Manage various administrative functions and interact with governmental authorities for licensing and compliance with legal procedures and documentation for the movement for all types of specialised cargo (e.g. Dangerous Goods, Live animals) and ad hoc movements (e.g. freighter, transshipments)

  • Resolve problems arising such as delays, cargo mishandling and transfer of cargo in order to minimize cargo off-loadings, maximise utilization of space availability and meet clients expectations.

  • Motivate, train and develop operational staff, including performance appraisals and development planning

Job Requirements:

Logistics/Cargo.Other : 8+ Years


Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) : 

Educated to A-Level (or equivalent) with at least 8 years' experience in a Cargo Operations environment, including at least 5 years at a supervisory level OR Educated to Degree (or equivalent) with at least 5 years' experience in a Cargo Operations environment, including at least 3 years at a supervisory level. 


Knowledge/skills: 



  • Completed training in Dangerous Goods Acceptance, Live Animal Regulations, Advanced Cargo Handling

  • Holder of a current Dangerous Goods Certificate

  • Knowledge of the local area cargo environment including customs formalities

  • Proven ability to lead and develop staff

  • PC based skills including Microsoft Word/ Excel/ E-mail

  • Fluency in English and the language of the country you are working is essential
