What Youll Get to Do
Air Transport Cargo Handlers operate ramp-servicing vehicles and equipment, handle cargo and baggage and perform other ground support duties at our facilities. They are responsible for ensuring cargo reaches its destination safely and on time.
- Drive and operate ramp-servicing vehicles and equipment
- Position passenger loading stairs and operate aircraft cargo doors
- Marshal or tow aircrafts to gate positions for passenger boarding and deplaning and for loading and unloading of cargo
- Load, unload and sort passenger baggage and/or freight from aircrafts and trucks according to security regulations
- Transport freight between aircraft and airport warehouse
- Receive, count, tag and weigh all incoming freight
- Use the Amelia Cargo System to arrive, depart, allocate, manifest and create consignments
- Daily inventory of consignments within the warehouse
- Notify customers of inbound freight for pickup within the warehouse
- Organize the warehouse to ensure all freight is stored in the appropriate areas
- Provide a daily on-hand report of all cargo shipments in the warehouse
- Answer customer inquiries via email/phone/in person, regarding any cargo questions/concerns
- Prepare freight for transport while adhering to all Calm Air’s policies and procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service and answer all emails in a timely manner
- Complete regular training via Calm Air’s online training platform and ensure it is kept up to date
- Use the Calm air scanning software for cargo and baggage-related functions
- Check Coolers and Freezers daily to ensure they are operational
- Aircraft De-Icing
- All other duties as assigned
Hours of Work
- Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings and weekends
Skills & Experience We Value
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is an asset
- Ability to read and write, basic math skills
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and written
- Criminal Reference Check
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to follow direction
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license Class 5F
- Previous experience & knowledge in warehousing, receiving and inventory control are considered an asset
- Ability to obtain and maintain AVOP pass as per Transport Canada rules
- Preference given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
- Inuktitut language is considered an asset
