Job Description:

We are seeking multiple Chemical Processors A/B/C to work at our West Palm Beach, FL facility to plan and perform a variety of cleaning and chemical processing operations to prepare for, and apply various chemical processes to nickel, copper or silver plate, chemically mill, etch. or strip, and otherwise clean and surface treat for succeeding operations all types of developmental parts, accessories, and tooling.

The position may be filled at the level of the identified candidate.

Essential Functions:

  • Work from drawings, Electronic Work Instructions (EWI), Engineering Process Instructions (EPI), sketches, specifications, and written and verbal instructions to perform new, unusual, and established plating and chemical processing operations on a wide assortment of items comprised of materials such as various steel, nickel, aluminum, and titanium alloys, columbium, plastics, and various composites, where specialized techniques and methods are oftentimes required.
  • Select appropriate holding fixtures and attach conforming anodes from those available to obtain maximum plating efficiency, adapting fixtures when necessary, or prepare sketch of desired fixturing where those available are inadequate, and arrange for fabrication.
  • Determine necessary preparatory operations prior to specific operation requirements, such as degreasing, alkali or blue gold was or soak, steam or sonic cleaning, and acid baths to clean, strip and remove scale, smut, and other surface residue, and process through such cleaning operations as appropriate.
  • Hand clean with solvent when necessary and mask parts with tape, was, or other coating, devising best method when not specified.
  • Compute current density and immersion time based on plating or milling rate of solution, areas to be plated, milled or etched, and thickness of plating, size and shape of items when appropriate.
  • Periodically check in-process work, making any corrections necessary to obtain acceptable results. Upon completion of cycle, process through follow-up immersions, and check completed work visually for surface pitting, excessive etching, discoloration, voids, and blisters, and with measuring instruments for thickness of plating, stock removal, and surface hardness.
  • Make recommendations to improve methods, processing, general operations, and resolve recurring difficulties or problems.
  • Work closely with and advise Manufacturing Engineers to process unusual development, repair, or rework items, and resolve problems. Process all necessary paperwork and maintain required records.
  • Perform a variety of repair and rework operations pursuant to oral and written instructions.
  • Strip old plating and/or otherwise prepare parts for corrective operations, plate, etch or chemical mill, and check for conformance to repair or rework instructions.
  • Maintain tank levels as necessary, help drain and refill the various processing tanks as directed, operate oven to bake parts when necessary, and perform other related duties of a comparable or lower skill level as required to facilitate chemical processing and surface cleaning functions.
  • Operate fork lift or hand truck to move parts around department area.
  • Pass a background investigation to obtain a security clearance (classified/secret)

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of directly related experience minimum.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 2-3 years trade school highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and the action of various chemicals upon different materials with each other.
  • Ability to work from drawings, operation sheets, specifications, and handbooks, the application general surface treatment methods to developmental operations and specific problems, the use of shop mathematics to calculate area of various shaped parts, and the use of precision measuring instruments to check dimension of parts.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate through manufacturing and quality systems.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $33.76/hr - $51.91/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
