We are looking for a Cloud/System Architect to join Airbus Defence and Space, in either our Guildford or Newcastle upon Tyne offices. You will join our Connected Intelligence group and report to our Head of Solutions Engineering.

With proprietary access to the world&39;s leading commercial satellite constellation, Airbus Intelligence delivers sustainable satellite imagery and geospatial data solutions that span the entire value chain and are unrivalled in the marketplace. The applications we serve are manifold and include maritime surveillance, precision agriculture, emergency response and environmental monitoring. As world-leading experts in geo-information and defence solutions, we help decision makers to increase security, optimise mission planning, improve management of resources and protect our environment.You will provide technical architecture leadership to support the delivery of state of the art cloud solutions to the Airbus Intelligence UK programme. As well as having an excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends, we are looking for someone who is looking to continuously learn, develop and innovate.
 
You will also need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance (normally requiring you to have been resident in the UK for at least the last 5 years)
 
Main Tasks and Accountabilities
  • The main tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Capturing and analysing stakeholder needs, translating them into comprehensive technical requirements and defining architectural solutions to satisfy them.
  • Designing and modelling functionality and physical systems, expressing the solution to a level appropriate for the audience.
  • Evaluating technical options in a way that considers the appropriate level of detail, wider impacts and available technology
  • Leading the technical architecture, integration and potential deployment of the solution and the related IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with other architects and developers to deliver the highest quality solutions.
  • Designing reliable, resilient, scalable systems from inception to delivery.
 
Required Skills / Experience
  • University Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • A solid foundation of cloud computing including an understanding of cloud technology, cloud architecture and Software Architecture, coupled with the ability to design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions and services hosted in the cloud.
  • Experience and knowledge of IT security and a good understanding of “security by design” and “privacy by design”.
  • You will need proficient oral and written communication skills.

It would also be desirable if you have some of the following:

  • Experience in AWS and/or Azure
  • INCOSE System Engineering CSEP certification or equivalent.
