Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Communications Coordinator (Contract) to join our Communications department based in Herndon, VA.

This position is located in Herndon, VA.

You will be part of a team ensuring the latest fleet information is updated in press kits; work with External Communications to regularly review and update our U.S. backgrounds, i.e., Airbus in the US, Airbus in Mobile, to ensure they are always up to date; work with Internal Communications to write select pieces for Internal Comms channels and provide support across the Airbus Americas Communications team as needed. The position will report to the Communications Director, Stakeholder Engagement and Performance Management.

Our Communications team members provide effective communications to support a variety of Airbus programs through strategic internal, external, social media and crisis communications. Our team is fluent in all areas of digital communications, media and public relations. We leverage available channels and tools, as well as creating new ones. We partner with business units throughout Airbus to position the company as a brand of choice for external customers and employees alike. Join the Communications team and help tell the Airbus story.

The Washington, D.C. metro area is home to multiple Airbus offices: In our nation’s capital you will find the Airbus Experience Center, a collection of interactive, multimedia exhibitions highlighting the extensive role the company plays in the aviation, aerospace and defense industries in the U.S. and around the world. The D.C. area is also home to our regional corporate headquarters – located adjacent to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) - it makes flying in a breeze!

Your Challenges:

Internal Communications: 35

  • Support Airbus Americas Internal Communications network with the creation and posting of regional and local content to company intranet and in-house television network.
  • Ensure latest poster campaign is visible and up to date in all Northern VA and DC sites, and support creation of case required to transition from printed posters to digital displays.

External Communications: 15

  • Support traditional and social media comms planning.
  • Work with Marketing team to ensure latest fleet information is updated in press materials.
  • Support media visits by helping with the agenda, security registrations, media profiles, press kits, etc.

Events & Corporate Giveaways: 20

  • Support organization of events, exhibitions and demo tour planning.
  • Coordinate and/or provide logistical support during local events.
  • Handle mass mailings, event invitations, RSVPs, etc.
  • Design and publish invitations, event programs, brochures, record and edit short videos.
  • Support in maintaining customer giveaways and promotional items inventory.

Administration: 20

  • Support team with maintaining US entries updated in the global Airbus Communications Radar
  • Compile PR agency activity reports
  • Support PR Agency and media requests for Airbus assets such as videos, images and fact sheets
  • Support Performance Management initiatives, including the maintenance of a Communications Dashboard, reporting and metrics.

Your Boarding Pass:
  • Must be currently located in the DC Metro area.
  • Journalism and Communications majors are encouraged to apply. Must be interested in the aerospace industry. Aviation knowledge is a plus.
  • No previous work experience required as this is an early career opportunity.
  • From 0 to 20 Domestic and International Travel will be involved.
  • Fluent in English (French, German or Spanish are a plus).
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, plus ability to create content in news style format.
  • Knowledge of journalistic writing style, such as Associated Press.
  • Comfortable with photography, videos and using desktop publishing tools, such as Adobe Create Suite.
  • Able to multitask, problem-solve and work through pressure.
  • Creative, self-motivated, proactive, thorough and highly organized.
  • Digital skills & approach.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work in a diverse and multi-function team.

Ability to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
