Job overview and responsibilities

United Airlines’ Customer Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create services and applications across key airline functionalities such as Booking, Check-in, Payment, Reservation systems and Operational Systems to help support the commercial and digital Channels of United.

As a senior software developer, you will be responsible for the development of mission critical applications, while working with a team of developers. You will design, develop, document, test and debug new and existing applications. Additionally, as a senior developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use leading edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software daily. You will be relied upon to help take this team to the next level from a technological standpoint.

  • Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
  • Serve as technical expert on development projects
  • Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
  • Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
  • Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs
  • Recognized as expert in field, knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practices
  • Conducts the most complex and vital work critical to the organization
  • Works without supervision with complete latitude for independent judgment
  • May mentor less experienced peers and display leadership as needed

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications

Required

  • Object Oriented Programming (5 years)
  • .NET Development and Management (3 years) (.NET 4.x and .NET 6+ preferred)
  • Cloud Development (1 years) (AWS Preferred)
  • SQL Server Stored Procedure/View/Table Development (2 years)
  • Familiar with Exception Handling and Application Logging practices
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Design Patterns
  • Knowledgeable around Secure programming practices
  • Experience with working in an Agile team
  • Familiar with Service-Now ticketing and Incident management
  • Production Support
  • Communication and problem-Solving skills (Required)
  • Authors and maintains DevOps documentation such as runbooks, knowledge-base articles, architecture diagrams, etc
  • Ensure quality by championing best practices and code reviews.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Practices relentless automation, track issues, and document changes
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Solid work ethic, self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Analyze business requirements, propose, design and implement technical solutions
  • Identify root causes and resolve data related issues

Preferred

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems
  • Experience with PCI DSS
  • Experience with Functional Programming
