SUMMARY
The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their functional EH&S discipline. These assignments are designed to supplement their knowledge and experience. Our goal is to provide an effective learning experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply principles that he or she has learned in school to hands-on situations to help improve EHS programs, practices, and reporting.
- Attend regular departmental safety meetings.
- Daily management of Benchmark Gensuite EHS digital platform used to address safety/environmental concerns along with documenting and reporting compliance requirements.
- Review and analyze PPE requirements for the various departments and process related functions.
- Perform and or review job risk analysis for various processes and tasks.
- Work with the hourly workforce to address day-to-day safety concerns.
- Learn to manage various environmental and sustainability compliance requirements.
- Help with informing and equipping various departments to properly manage hazardous materials and waste stream processing.
- Help with review and refinement of Fire and Chemical emergency response procedures for the facility.
- Review and refine OSHA required training programs.
- Learn to perform new hire safety training and orientation.
- Develop & improve material handling issues throughout the facility.
- Investigate facility accidents & injuries to develop corrective actions.
- Help implement periodic inspections for hazardous waste, PPE use, machine guarding, etc.
- Help with vendor and consultant coordination for various EHS initiatives.
- Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects relating to EH&S discipline.
- Attend training sessions and other appropriate educational opportunities.
- Take ownership and responsibility for identified EHS projects on the manufacturing floor.
- Participate on teams for assigned projects to analyze improvements, new product applications, and develop requirements with the team to ensure compliance with applicable EH&S regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge of EH&S engineering practices, IH sampling, regulatory compliance for OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, & NEC.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access
- Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
- US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor&39;s Degree or Master’s Degree in Environmental, Health, or Safety or Environmental Engineering
