Position Summary
This is an internship opportunity for Summer 2025. The EHS Intern will assist the Division Environmental Health and Safety Manager in promoting the environmental health and safety of plant operations to promote employee well-being and compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal requirements. The EHS intern will enhance the EHS department in numerous ways including driving EHS initiatives resulting in improvement of our safety culture and will be involved in the day-to-day activities as well as strategic developmental deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Assist/Facilitate EHS High Performance Team meetings.
- Participate in injury investigations and 5-WHYs to establish root cause.
- Drive close out rates of corrective actions that result from near misses and incidents.
- Assist with creating, facilitating, and administering compliance trainings.
- Assist with data entry and managing information in our EHS system.
- Track metrics such as observations, near misses, and incidents.
- Assist with communicating with vendors and contractors.
- Assist with daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly inspections.
- Assist with implementing and sustaining EHS programs.
- Assist with Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews.
- Assist with chemical waste management.
- Assist in all other EHS projects assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong leadership skills and a “can do” attitude.
- Strong computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
- Ability to complete the job following all policies or procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of environments and assignments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interest in EHS.
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
