Fiberglass Subassembler I - 2nd Shift (Full Time)

Assists the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts & subassemblies following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.
Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:
Mix and measure correct amount of resin for proper curing and working time.
Clean and prepare molds for wet fiberglass layup.
Layup cloth by compacting, brushing, rolling the resin to ensure proper fit and the elimination of trapped air.
Inspect molded parts for air bubbles, voids, pinholes, cracks, etc. Trim, grind, deburr, and repair as needed.
Spray sealer on the molded part, look for any imperfections and rework as necessary.
Build less complex parts such as baffles, ribs, glareshields and duct liners.
Patch and grind less complex parts such as fairing fin tips and shell assemblies.
Assemble less complex parts such panel assemblies, tubes assemblies, wing tips and duct assemblies.
Maintain the departments compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.
Rework discrepancies as necessary.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve the teams performance including schedule delivery, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions.
Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Adhere and maintain all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Perform duties as assigned by supervision.

High school diploma / GED; or completion of verifiable occupational readiness training program, or minimum of 5 years of directly related fiberglass experience in lieu of high school diploma / GED
Related fiberglass subassembler experience requirements:
o Fiberglass Subassembler I: 1 year of experience preferred
o Fiberglass Subassembler II: 2 - 3 years of experience preferred
o Fiberglass Subassembler III: 3 - 4 years of experience preferred
o Senior Fiberglass Subassembler: 5 years of experience preferred
Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Use of hand and power tools as required
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and PPE, including proper fit and use of respirators as required
Follow all safety procedures
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions
Physical Demands
Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below.

Working Conditions
Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.
