Purpose of the position

The Flight Operations Documentation & Policies Manager reports directly to the Technical and Procedures Manager and assists in ensuring safe, legal and efficient operations.

To achieve this, the Flight Operations Documentation & Policies Manager is directly supported by the FCM Documentation Expert, the Cabin Safety Standards Procedures Officer and the FSM Standardization Expert.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for the editing, updating and distribution of the OM Part A, B, C (AIS/AQB), CAM and all flight operations and cabin Internal Procedures Manuals and Working Procedures.  
  • Will collaborate with relevant internal departments and sub-departments, and with external entities to ensure that the structured revision processes are followed in order to provide the necessary guidance to crews.  
  • Ensures that manuals & documentation are well structured, transparent and easily accessible and, when necessary, drives improvements to attain this. 
  • Ensure that manual & documentation are at all times compliant with the relevant rules and regulations. (e.g. ICAO, EASA, BCAA, any NAA, AD, security, area,…)  
  • Collaborates with the technical pilot A320/A330 regarding any topic which impacting the applicable documentation. 
  • Drives the High Level Feasibility Check process for the inclusion of new airports to the portfolio and ensures proper documentation. 
  • Joins the Lufthansa Group AO/FP structure with the goal to achieve alignment and higher efficiency in adopting new regulations and policies in the documentation.  
  • Communicates clearly, transparently and efficiently to the flight crew community on all policies, procedures, and documentation matters.
  • Ensures close cooperation with Crew Training that all flight crews are aware of and correctly apply the relevant and applicable flight procedures.
  • Ensures that the particular needs/requests of the flight crew community are captured and used appropriately to drive improvements.  
  • Initiates, leads and participates in key projects of the Flight Operations department. 
  • Coordinates and prepares for internal and external audits (e.g. BCAA, IOSA, …). 
  • To ensure proper application of any policies and procedures, collaborates closely with: 
    • The BCAA, and any other NAA when required. 
    • The Operational Support and Digitization department. 
    • The Fleet Chiefs and their team
    • The performance & efficiency manager
    • The Training department. 
    • The Ground Operations department. 
    • The iOCC . 
  • Participates in the MOD structure. 

Your profile

  • Holder of an ATPL license is a plus.
  • Project management experience.
  • Previous office experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, knowledge of aviation regulatory bodies and compliance requirements. Knowledge of EASA OPS and FCL regulations is desirable.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch or French. Notions of German or another language is an advantage.
  • IT knowledge: MS Office, Aviation applications.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active and solution-driven, well organized and structured in way of working.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g. teamwork, empathy, diplomacy), adaptability to changing circumstances, good organization and time management skills.
