Position Summary:
The Forming Operator (Stretch) will be responsible for operating and setting up stretch forming machines to produce sheet metal parts for aerospace applications. This includes interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, selecting proper tooling and materials, and performing quality inspections.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate stretch forming machines to produce sheet metal parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Select and install tooling, dies, and fixtures necessary to produce parts to specifications.
• Verify that materials and tools are correct for the job and perform necessary adjustments as needed.
• Monitor and adjust machine controls to maintain proper material flow and ensure parts are produced to the required tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate production records and log any quality issues or machine malfunctions.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning and lubricating as necessary.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills:
• Proficient in operating and setting up stretch forming machines for aerospace sheet metal parts production.
• Knowledgeable in selecting and installing tooling, dies, and fixtures required for sheet metal forming.
• Capable of interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to produce parts to required tolerances.
• Competent in monitoring and adjusting machine controls to maintain proper material flow and ensure parts meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Skilled in performing quality inspections and maintaining accurate production records.
• Familiar with routine machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals and work instructions.
• Possess excellent attention to detail and strong quality control skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Physical ability to stand, lift, and bend for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Required Experience:
• This position requires basic experience working with mechanical processes and methods such as hand tools, and light equipment such as drills and pneumatic tools, presses and heat-treating ovens.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace sheet metal stretch forming or a related field.
Level of Education:
• GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
