Job Description - HO Digital Protospace India & South Asia

Airbus Innovation Center - India & South Asia will be responsible for industrializing disruptive technologies by tapping into the strong engineering competencies center while also leveraging and co-creating with the vibrant external ecosystems such as mature startups/MSMEs, national labs & universities and strategic partnerships (customers, suppliers etc.). 

The technology focus areas that the Innovation Center will focus on are - decarbonization technologies (Green Hydrogen, SAF production etc.), artificial intelligence, industrial automation, unmanned air systems, Connectivity, Space Tech, Autonomy etc. among others.

The Digital Protospace will be fully part of the Innovation Centre supported by the Engineering and IM Centres in the region and globally, this will be part of the XLabs - a network of laboratories that cater to all the 3 business units of Airbus - Commercial, Helicopters, Defense & Space.

As the Head of the Digital Protospace, you will be immersed in supporting a wide range of multidisciplinary projects coming from all divisions. The philosophy is to make it happen quickly and simply.        

• Lead the strategy for the activity in the region and also be responsible for building a strong pipeline of projects to be executed in the Digital Protospace.
• Supervise and execute the day to day operations for protospace, including workload planning, task assignment, assuring customer expectations in terms of quality, timelines and cost. 
• Liaison with customers to establish requirements and to offer design solutions to meet their needs. 
• Assure the appropriate ongoing training and development of the employees within the ProtoSpace.
• To have a strong digital background (AI, Design, Simulations, Architecture & Integration etc.) to be able to guide and support the strategy and operations of all the on-going projects.
• Manage the workshops and all activities the Protospace will support.
• Ensure information circulation (organizing local weekly reviews with the local team as well as participating and reporting in global protospace weekly reviews). Ensure the transparency within ProtoSpace transnational structure. Coordination with other local ProtoSpace leaders and the transnational Head of Prototyping and transversal Labs.

• Must drive strategic and strong digital engineering projects that will contribute to various activities of the company ranging from (Design, Architecture & Integration, Modelling & Simulation etc.)
• Develop a strong pipeline of digital engineering projects based on the available competencies in the region.
• Prepare the scope of operations for every project and plan the work packages for the various teams within Airbus and also in the external ecosystem.
• Prepare objectives and KPIs that will focus on creating Value (ROI) and Impact
• Bring new technologies to the ProtoSpace community from outside Airbus
• Produce regular updates regarding planning and associated budget to meet the agreed targets on the basis of time, quality and cost.

Technical skills

• MultiTechnical skills of a maker (digital tools, machining and basic electronics) to support the digital projects in the protospace
