Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Head of Quality Standards & Industrialization to join our Quality Department based in Mobile, AL

Responsible for ensuring accurate Quality Standards and APQP planning and implementation for the A320 Final Assembly Line Operations. Deploys and leads ongoing Quality Standards implementation which focus the operations on right-first-time and enabling serial activities which meet the planned need. Also, through Problem Solving, reacts to problems by engaging a multi-functional team in Root Cause Corrective Action eradication. Responsible for aligning with major domain and process owners in Airbus to secure the maturity of the process deployment and handling resources budget to implement/recover if there are gaps.

Your challenges:

Quality Planning and Management to ensure oversight and management of Operational System: 20

  • Ensures that the overall Quality Standards Planning is secured to deliver 100 surveillance, process qualification and Control Plan implementation.

  • Ensures that the planning is adapted based on current trends such as KPI/Pareto from the Operations

  • Engages an MFT in reviewing the current plan and adapts where vital

2. Quality Standards implementation and development: 20

  • Implements a system which shows the maturity of the process and standards for FAL-Mobile.

  • Where gaps are identified secures a gap closure plan and manages resources/budget to complete the gap closure timely on quality.

  • Produces reports which show the stability of the Station and Business Units within the FAL the current trend and open actions to allow focus on key areas of improvement

  • Engages the business in the roles required and secures the competence development of the standards.

3. Handle the complete Quality Standards Dossier (Control Plan, PPV, IPA) dossier and ensure its accuracy : 20

  • Implements the Quality Standards planning according to the Planning within the team(s) which secures clear oversight of all deployed Operational Process within the Final Assembly within the required time-frame.

  • Ensures the database of Industrial qualified process is secured and maintained for reporting and visibility with Central Quality, as well as generating actions and action plans to ensure the points outstanding are closed and maintained.

4. Control Plan implementation and management : 20

  • Implements, via the recognised system of AOS, key bricks with sustainability within the Stations and business area which allow focus on a drive towards maturity of Control and Inspection Planning.

  • Aligns with the FAL network to ensure the consistency of one-aircraft. one standard across the Single Aisle network.

  • Ensures that the Root Cause is identified and corrective actions are driven through to completion within the teams.

5. Continually improves the Control and Inspection plan for the Aircraft; ensuring material for Inspectors is clear and unambiguous to secure product integrity : 10

  • Inspection and Control Plan for the A320 family manufacturing in the FAL.

  • Ensures systems and review mechanisms exist to improve and evolve the plan based on trend and directive inputs.

  • Connects the plan to the wider Single Aisle program and ensures that it is updated based on the current Single Aisle status and Customer Feedback.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ambassador and spokesperson for the QPS system and mind-set.

  • Improvement Projects identified through the FAL locally or via Central or Programme Quality.

  • Quality system improvement initiatives and organization aims to improve.

  • Setting of Quality and Departmental Targets, yearly and daily.

  • Acting, and being seen to act, in accordance with Airbus Quality standards and leadership mind-set, and produce reports showing trends and data of the Quality System and its output to the business.

  • Work as part of the Quality Leadership Team to set key projects and directives for the FAL and Aisle Quality Network which improve on the Business Defined Scorecards.

  • Participate in the definition and live the Quality Ways of Working in FAL-USA.

  • Be involved in crisis management meetings and in some cases lead them.

  • Be prepared to travel to Europe and other sites as required.

Your boarding pass:

Education:

  • Preferred: Degree in Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience in Production (Aerospace or other) Quality Departments.

Experience:
  • Required: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Aerospace and/or equivalent environment; however, quality experience is preferred

  • Required: Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, preferably in a management capacity; however, project and process leadership may also be considered.

Travel Required:
  • 5 Domestic and International
