We are seeking an SMS Officer/Investigator to join our team at either our Birmingham or Manchester location. The ideal candidate will have strong aviation experience, a deep understanding of safety management systems (SMS), and the ability to conduct technical safety investigations. You will work closely with key stakeholders, employees, and customers to investigate incidents, identify risks, and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety culture within our operations. The role requires proficiency in producing, editing, and finalising reports and the ability to discuss safety risks with senior management. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Report daily safety performance to the SMS Manager
• Identify risks and hazards and implement containment actions
• Investigate incidents and determine root causes
• Deliver training sessions on safety management and human factors
• Review and manage technical risk registers
• Conduct Human Factors-based investigations
• Liaise with Civilian and Military customers regarding safety issues
• Prepare internal and customer safety reports
• Develop safety awareness tools and run safety campaigns across the company

Qualifications:

• Understanding of EASA, CAA, and MAA Part 145 requirements
• Strong background in aviation safety principles and risk management
• Deep knowledge of behaviour-based safety (human factors) and just culture models
• Experience in developing safety training materials and delivering sessions
• Solid understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) principles
• Maintenance Error Investigator training is desirable
