Summary

The co-op student will be assigned challenging tasks that align with their human resources discipline. These assignments will offer practical learning opportunities while providing PCC for a future HR leader.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Employee File Management
    • The co-op student will be responsible for building, filing and maintaining both hourly and non-exempt salaried employee files.
  2. Badging and New Hire Orientation
    • The co-op student will ensure proper badging for visitors and new hires. They will assist with new hire orientation, and recordkeeping.
  3. Recruitment Assistance
    • The co-op student will assist in recruiting qualified candidates for all hourly and non-exempt salaried positions to meet plant production requirements.
  4. Benefit Program Administration
    • The co-op student will assist with administering hourly and salary benefit programs.
  5. Employee Engagement Events
    • The co-op student will assist in administering employee engagement events. They will help coordinate and execute events that promote positive employee relations.
  6. Interdepartmental Communication
    • The co-op student will maintain positive employee relations by cooperating with vendors, customers, co-workers and management. They will communicate with payroll, training and divisional headquarters as required.
  7. Other Duties
    • The co-op student will perform other duties as designated by the HR Manager and General Manager.

Overall, the assignments for the co-op student will provide them with practical learning opportunities that will help them develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a future HR leader.

Qualifications

  • Base knowledge of Human Resources discipline
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be local (within 30 miles of location)

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Full-time student pursuing a bachelor&39;s degree or masters in HR or equivalent (i.e. business).
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Work Environment

  • Student will spend majority of time in the office but will be expected to have some plant floor presence.
  • Minimal travel will be required to other site located less than 1 mile away.
