An Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting an organizations IT infrastructure. They ensure that computer systems, networks, and software operate efficiently, securely, and reliably. IT Specialists may work in various industries, providing technical support, system administration, cybersecurity, and IT solutions to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide assistance to employees with hardware, software, and network issues.
- System Maintenance: Install, configure, and update computer systems, applications, and security patches.
- Network Administration: Manage and troubleshoot network systems, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
- Cybersecurity: Implement security protocols, monitor for threats, and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Hardware Management: Set up and maintain computers, servers, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Software Administration: Manage enterprise applications, cloud services, and business software.
- IT Documentation: Keep records of IT assets, procedures, and technical issues for future reference.
- User Training: Educate employees or clients on best practices, cybersecurity awareness, and software usage.
- IT Project Management: Assist in deploying new technologies and upgrading IT infrastructure.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Experience with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, FortiGate and SonicWALL firewalls)
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data protection.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Familiarity with Microsoft cloud computing (Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or AWS (preferred but optional).
