Overview of role:

The Intermediate Digital Product Optimization Developer is responsible for developing rich A/B testing and personalization experiences across many of WestJet’s digital products, working in close collaboration with peers within Optimization team and multiple stakeholder groups. They are an active participant in the process of collaborating with marketing and product teams throughout the optimization life cycle, including ideation. The Optimization team uses Scrum / Kanban methodologies and practices agile principles that require you to participate in planning, refinement of stories, and delivery of sprints. You will form part of a community of experienced digital practitioners that share best practices, promote our work, collaborate to solve problems, and encourage career growth.

Key deliverables include:

  • Deliver and improve the end customer (guest) experience across WestJet’s digital channels, leveraging the Adobe Target Platform.
  • Develop using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML (frontend development-oriented role).
  • Support technical effort working with IT partners, site management and creative teams to ensure timely execution of testing and/or personalization activities.
  • Help diagnose and fix technical issues related to delivering custom site experiences.
  • Support and directly assist with the development of new or improved internal technical processes and documentation (for the purpose of continually improving how we work as a core team / CoE and with stakeholders).
  • Contributes to and helps foster a culture of experimentation and an “always be testing” mindset.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Substantial knowledge of and experience in front-end web development technologies, namely JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
  • 2+ years of experience with Optimization platforms and the process of facilitating A/B testing and site personalization efforts (experience with Adobe Target and a good understanding of Adobe Marketing Cloud technologies is an asset).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or other related combination of education and experience (and minimum 2-3 years of practical / web development experience).
  • Knowledgeable about using Optimization technology within Single Page Application (SPA) frameworks, mobile and email, and can make recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, and network analytics tools (i.e., well-versed in the use of browser-based debugging tools, JSON for debugging responses from Target, debugging tools for native apps like Charles Proxy, API tools like Postman).
  • A solid grasp of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
  • Strong communicator and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and closely partner with colleagues in several different business functions.
  • Adobe Target Certification is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of Web / Digital Analytics is a plus.
