The internship will take place within the Artificial Intelligence Research unit of Airbus Central Research & Technology and based in Taufkirchen (near Munich, DE). The team is working on exploring, adapting, and maturing deep-learning technologies to bridge the gap between state-of-the-art research and the challenges of real-life Airbus applications.
You will work on uncertainty quantification in the context of vision-based aircraft landing — and your research will focus on the intersection between Bayesian deep learning and computer vision. This internship will include dedicated supervision and therefore requires a strong motivation and commitment.

Your tasks and responsibilitiesDevelop uncertainty quantification methods for deep learning.
Benchmark the performances of the developed algorithm with current state of the art solutions.
Present the work and results to the project team and the Airbus AI community.
Desired skills and qualificationsStrong background in machine learning (e.g. thesis, projects, internships, etc.).
Experience with Bayesian methods / uncertainty quantification in machine learning (e.g. variational inference or Laplace approximation) is a must.
Experience in computer vision (object detection and pose estimation) is a big plus.
Decent coding skills in Python.
Decent coding skills in PyTorch.
Good working level in English.
