Uniteds Digital Technology team designs, develops, and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions. The Digital Technology team is hiring interns in both our Chicago and Houston corporate support centers.

Job overview and responsibilities

During your summer experience, you will be fully immersed in our collaborative culture built on diversity of thought. Our teams will be looking for your curiosity and your unique point of view. We will look to push your development as an analyst and a leader alike through comprehensive, on-the-job training, leadership development workshops, and mentorships to help you navigate your internship. Interns will be given meaningful projects along with the opportunity to interact with and present to leadership.

The United Digital Technology team designs, develops and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions. The department is composed of 5 portfolios:

  • Cybersecurity and digital risk focus on ensuring applications are secure by addressing vulnerabilities both proactively and ongoing
  • Infrastructure, cloud, and engineering focuses on moving applications to the cloud and developing cloud best practices
  • Operations technology focuses on building and maintaining applications that support our front-line employees, including but not limited to applications for flight attendants, gate agents, pilots, and more
  • Digital Channels technology focuses on building, enhancing, and maintaining customer-facing applications such as United.com and the United mobile app
  • Digital channels strategy focuses on data analytics, data engineering, and process engineering & efficiency

Placement within the department will be determined during the selection process, depending on the candidates interest ranking and skillset. Projects will vary by group and may include (but are not limited to) software development, business analytics, project management, cybersecurity, AWS cloud, machine learning, data analytics and more.

Qualifications

Required

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters degree
  • High level of integrity/strict adherence to protecting confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail and highly organized
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
