Position Summary:

Use various handheld and bench mounted measuring devices to determine product quality. Perform inspection of firing blocks to ensure product conformance to internal requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct sample preparation for various destructive tests
  • Perform tests for incoming and outgoing materials for PCC foundries using the following:
  • Particle Size Analyzer (PSD)
  • Trace Analysis – ICP and Atomic Absorption
  • Sieve Analysis
  • Slurry Testing (viscosity, specific gravity, pH, ceramic retention)
  • Various other pieces of equipment/testing methods
  • Enter test data into spreadsheets and/or databases
  • Report test data to quality and engineering as needed
  • Process control audits as needed
  • Conduct calibration on process control equipment
  • Assist in testing for engineering trials

Required skills:

  • Must be able to read, write, and do basic mathematical problems.
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be self-directed to accomplish goals with minimal supervision
  • Must have good interpersonal skills for dealing with customers and internal employees
  • Must be computer literate, familiarity with Excel a plus
  • No warnings for attendance or performance for the last year

Experience & Education

  • High school education is preferred
  • Prior lab experience is preferred
