Working at our McAllen Facility

The GE Aerospace facility in McAllen is one of our centers of expertise specializing in the repair of engine components used in commercial and military aircraft. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Performs special processes such as high temperature heat treats, brazing, FIC and coatings
  • Works from specific knowledge of applicable technical documents, custom process methods, and strict adherence to process instructions. Operates vacuum furnaces and batch atmosphere furnaces
  • Ensures cleaning and preparation work are properly performed 
  • Performs chemical strip and clean and abrasive blast cleaning on turbine engine parts
  • Works from recognized process methods, strict adherence to process instructions, specifications, and simple formulas to perform chemical cleaning, stripping, masking, etch, rinsing, drying, and degreasing operations
  • Performs related jobs, such as identifying the solutions, testing, and assists in the removal of spent solutions (acids and alkalis), operating manual and automated abrasive blast machines, washers/degreaser
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance, machine cleaning, chemical disposal, or similar functions as assigned (based on process sheets and/or work instructions)
  • Positions material on racks, thermocouples, packs furnace containers, loads furnaces, unloads furnaces, and performs related functions applicable to heat treats, brazing, and coatings 
  • Verify temperature control, atmosphere, and vacuum settings on Windows based and single loop temperature controllers
  • Performs operator level equipment maintenance as necessary 
  • Responsible for meeting all quality assurance standards of the product 
  • Must adhere to and follow all safety procedures, report safety concerns, use appropriate PPE as required, and follow all safety and quality practices 
  • Work normal scheduled shift on weekends per business needs
  • Any further training for upgrade on automated processes or process changes as needed 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 18 months experience in operating vacuum, in chemical cleaning and batch furnaces or aviation manufacturing/production environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime and any shift
  • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language: interpret and follow written procedures, i.e. AWI (Aviation Work Instructions), etc., complete documentation, i.e. routers, etc., and follow verbal instructions

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the comprehension and use of vacuum and batch atmosphere furnaces

  • Communicate effectively with others
     

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
