Position Summary
In an efficient manner, start up, operate and shut down spray lines and metal prep equipment. Make minor adjustments to equipment and solutions (titrations, viscosities). Schedule workload and maintain quality records and control points of related equipment.
Responsibilities
Skills and Knowledge:
- The incumbent will possess the skill and knowledge of simple and complex processes with limited supervisory guidance.
- Will understand the intricacies and mechanics involved in the manufacturing process.
- Shows initiative and adaptability to learn new skills and knowledge, and a desire to take on a team role within the department.
Quality of Work:
- This includes the accurately following procedures, processes and completing paperwork.
- Provide accurate data to other departments.
- Recognize, communicate and correct problems with materials, equipment, and out of the normal occurrences.
- Report errors and help to resolve and limit potential problems.
Quantity and/or Productivity:
- Planning and organizing work to achieve effective use of time.
- Begin and end work on time, i.e. start and end of shift; before and after lunch and breaks, scheduling break to allow continuous production when required.
- Complete work correctly the first time to eliminate rework.
Safety:
- Understand and follow plant safety practices and procedures.
- This includes knowledge of material hazards, MSDS, emergency and spill procedures, and root causes analysis to proactively improve safety within the facility.
- Know when to use safety equipment such as eyeglasses, gloves, protective clothing, and use this equipment when necessary.
- Provide safety suggestions where appropriate.
- Keep areas neat and clean; do not block exits, aisles, or fire extinguishers.
- Assist co-workers by sharing knowledge, train, instruct and help others when needed. Attitude toward work—do the best possible job.
- Attitude towards others-work effectively with other departments, co-workers, and supervisors maintaining respectful relationships.
- Practice good attendance and punctuality.
- Follow work rules.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- May perform various job assignments.
- Make effort to learn new skills, processes and assignments.
- Show the degree of initiative necessary to meet all requirements of the position.
- Provide the individual effort to accomplish all tasks and assignments with quality
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and fill out documentation.
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization is present.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
- Must have the ability to stand, kneel, squat, stoop, use fingers and hands to feel, lift or handle tools, parts and equipment.
- Must have ability to see and hear.
- Familiarity with basic computer operations and applications.
LANGUAGES REQUIRED
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
NON-MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Not absolutely required, but will enhance applicant/employee chances for success.)
- Basic understanding of chemical treatment systems and adhesive application processes
