Location:
At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we support Airbus Helicopters in developing helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

This position is part of the Safety Business Unit, which aims to enable safer, more sustainable and more integrated industries and transport systems.

Task description:

• Contribute to concept analysis of future products

• Contribute to dimensioning of the conventional aircraft system and advanced concepts

• Contribute to the integration of innovative and disruptive technologies at aircraft level

• Contribute to the analysis of new technologies and evaluation of new concepts and technologies

• Support the team in extending pre-design tools to new helicopter concepts (high speed, drone, etc.) capable of predicting the performance and mass of each equipment configuration, involving all engineering professions: from aerodynamics to energy production (thermal and electrical), flight mechanics, pilot skills, etc.

• Verify and validate the model development using existing tools and methods or available experimental datasets

• Deliver the results to internal customers in the form of presentations and documents

• You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team within the customer departments: Architectures, Preliminary Design, Competitive Analysis, Industrial Design and Weight and Balance Team

Required expertise:

• The job requires knowledge and skills that are usually acquired through a relevant, completed degree with a standard period of study of up to 4 years in the area of ​​aeronautics and related subject-specific additional qualifications or completed vocational training with a corresponding particularly extensive subject-specific additional qualification. The total required knowledge and experience may have been acquired in other ways

• Very good understanding of the different aerospace engineering disciplines involved in aircraft development: aeromechanics/aerodynamics, flight mechanics, propulsion and dynamics systems, safety analysis, design, etc.

• Knowledge and experience in the above-mentioned areas of responsibility

• Understanding of trade-off analysis between technology products (architecture/general design/integration) and engineering principles

• knowledge and experience in Python

• Synthesis and writing skills 

• Rigor and organized

• Have a great team spirit

• You need to be proactive and act autonomously with a lot of dynamic

• An advanced level in English and German, good level in French would be a plus

• Willingness to travel domestically and abroad
