Our Marketing and Loyalty team is the strategic force behind United’s industry-leading brand and experience, supporting revenue growth by turning customers into lifelong United flyers. Our marketing communications, market research and brand teams drive travelers’ familiarity and engagement with the United brand. Our loyalty team manages United MileagePlus®, building travel and lifestyle partnerships that customers can engage with every day, and works with our Star Alliance partners to ensure United can take you anywhere you want to go.

Key Responsibilities:

The Principal will lead and implement spend engagement strategy through launch of marketing campaigns. They are responsible for the strategic conceptualization, ideation, and the execution of each campaign. They will partner with co-brand card issuing partners, Loyalty & Marketing collaborators, and other United/MileagePlus partners to deliver programs, promotions, and communications, including different channels, such as email, direct mail, banner, social media, and paid media.

Marketing
  • Lead, build, and implement marketing campaigns to drive card spend engagement, reactivate card spend, and/or retain existing cardholders from card attrition.
  • Work with internal and external collaborators in implementing marketing campaigns in different channels including email, direct mail, online display, and social media, among others.
  • Acquire approval from all partners before launching marketing campaigns.
  • Perform competitive benchmarks and make recommendation about campaign ideas or additional benefits required to ensure co-brand cards remain competitive in the market.
  • Support cross-functional projects and meetings to garner project support and set project goals, monitor progress against tasks, identify project risks and provide regular updates for senior management.
Partnership program management
  • Oversee program operations and resolve issue inquiries from partners.
  • Work closely with partner(s) on ad hoc projects focused on driving spend growth, retention, and customer experience.
  • Work with manager and Partner to resolve any issues that may arise between the Partner and MileagePlus/United Airlines.
Analysis
  • Collaborate with Data Analytics to measure effectiveness of retention and growth strategies and to develop future tests and promotions.
  • Establish ongoing campaign implementation and tracking standards for more accurate result tracking.
  • Publish and present monthly cardholder engagement dashboard to a broader collaborator group.
  • Partner analytical collaborators pre-and post-campaigns to secure campaign approvals and recommendations. Including business case discussion with finance to tracking campaign performance (engagement and financial). Make recommendations on channel optimization for future campaigns.

This is a hybrid role, which requires working up to 50 of the time in-office at Willis Tower in Chicago, IL.

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years experience in marketing, sales, partnerships, or project management
  • 3+ years analytics-focused experience
  • Partnership marketing and integrated marketing knowledge
  • Marketing strategy and execution across email, direct mail, and web channels
  • Understanding of or experience in credit card or travel industry loyalty programs
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Ability to collaborate, gain alignment cross-functionally, handle conflicts
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
