Job Summary:
The Quality Technician (1st shift) position involves sampling, measuring and verifying that manufactured products meet pre-determined quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate loading map and charts
- Load and light-up forge furnaces (box and rotary)
- Measure the temperature of forged parts using an Infrared Optical Pyrometer
- Measure hot and cold forged parts and document dimensions
- Implement fixed process requirements, such as cooling method, temperature deviation and wall reduction
- Work with shop orders and specific customers
- Monitor minimum and max soak times temperatures on the golds
- Understand the basic forging language (back extrusion, edging, forming, etc.), and call out dimensions on gold
- Understanding load, reheats, transfers, and record measurements of hot and cold forged parts
- Maintain Lot traceability (Serial Number)
- Operate optical gun & aluminum handheld, hourly temperature measurement of forged parts with Infrared Optical Pyrometer
- Data entry using Oracle Software (Write-up)
- Verify tooling number before and temperature before forging parts
- Forklift training and safely operate mobile equipment (plus perform forklift checkup), and Safely gas up manipulator
- Move product between processes, load & unload material
- Interact with manufacturing staff and Meets Production Goals (Cycle Times, Out Put Log etc.)
- Setting up Wyman Gordon & Nuclear packages (Furnace charts, loading maps, write-up (Metallurgist report)
- Start up and properly shut down all furnaces, assist co-workers and Metrology with furnace issues
- Replacing spur plug, wire, and cleaning Fireye scanner
- Programming parameter of UDC2500 & UDC3200
- Adjust for initial-start up (New furnace)
- Furnace burner adjustments and understand furnace primary parts
- Understanding of Fireye flame safety system and maxon gas valves
- Update QA documentation due to schedule changes and flow down information to; Lead, Process Control & Blacksmith
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required education / experience:
- High school / GED or Technical College degree required
- 0-2 years experience in forge industry a plus (level 1)
- 3+ years’ experience for level 2
- Experience in forge industry is highly preferred but not required.
