Job Description Summary✈️ About Us
GE Additive is a world leader in metal additive design and manufacturing, a pioneering process that has the power and potential to transform businesses. Our modern site in Mölnlycke is the home to the Arcam EBM Center of Excellence, which is the heart of the research and development of our unique Electron Beam Melting (EBM) technology. Here, our talented employees are innovating and driving the EBM technology further to make the impossible possible, all while providing our customers with world-class service. Our machines are used by the medical industry to build prosthetic implants in titanium (more than 100,000 patients world-wide have 3D-printed hip implants build on our machines). Our machines are also used by the aerospace industry to build titanium aluminide turbine blades. Youve most likely already flown on a plane that runs with such a blade.

During this internship with the Process & Verification Team, youll engage in developing new processes for our machines, transitioning towards a more data-driven approach. Gain hands-on experience in our lab, analyzing machine data to develop an analysis tool that enhances insights from the EBM process. We seek students in various engineering disciplines with at least 3 years of study, intermediate programming skills, and a curiosity for technology. Experience in 3D-printing, data analysis, mechanics, or material science is a plus.

Job Description

Responsibilities

During this internship you will be joining the Process & Verification Team. The P&V team is an interdisciplinary team that focuses on developing new processes in the machine, i.e. expanding the capabilities of our machines by developing new ways to process e.g. new materials or more complicated geometries. The development process has historically been highly experimental, but we are moving to become more data driven. We want you to be a part of this transformation during your summer internship. During your time with us you will learn how our machines operate, gaining hands on experience in our lab. You will investigate the data that is created in the machine during our builds and how it is analyzed. Our goal is to find a suitable assignment in which you will develop an analysis tool, that will help our engineers gain new or improved insights from the EBM process. The task will be determined based on your skillset and our needs.

Profile

We are looking for students with a background in Engineering Physics, Engineering Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science.

  • At least 3 years into your engineering studies
  • Intermediate programming skills - preferably Python
  • Working on site in Mölnlycke
  • Curiosity for technology and applied science
  • Eagerness to be a part of an interdisciplinary team

Meriting, but not required:

  • Experience with 3D-printing or Additive Manufacturing
  • Experience with data analysis in e.g. Python
  • Completed courses in Mechanics and/or Material Science
  • Completed courses in Electromagnetic Physics
  • Experience working in a Lab Environment
  • Experience operating Heavy Machinery
  • Experience with Front End Development
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Experience with Simulation software
  • Experience with Image Analysis

We offer ✈️

Joining our internship program offers invaluable opportunities to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and innovative processes. Youll collaborate closely with experienced professionals, expand your skill set, and contribute to meaningful projects that drive real-world impact. Additionally, our supportive culture encourages learning and growth, providing mentorship and development opportunities to help you excel in your future career endeavors.
