The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking Senior Level Systems Engineers to support our location in the Saint Louis, MO region. You will work within our Strike, Surveillance & Mobility, Missile & Weapons Systems, or Phantom Works Divisions.

Our Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) team within BDS provides system integration services to US Navy, Air Force and international military partners. Systems Engineering means integrating performance, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability and human systems into all of our products and solutions.

  • Advanced Military Aircraft (F/A-18 Super Hornet or derivatives, E/A-18G Growler, F-15 Eagle or derivatives, the new T-X trainer)
  • Weapon Systems (JDAM, SDB, Harpoon, SLAM, HAAWC)

  • New developing advanced technologies within our Phantom Works division

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture.
  • Manage the development of sections of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Lead the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
  • Lead the coordination and resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination.         
  • Support work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Plan, design, develop and verify lifecycle balanced system solutions for a highly complex hardware/software system; allocate performance budgets and analyze and report on test data.
  • Utilize understanding of engineering processes to collaborate with Program Management and Engineering functions to support Customer needs.     
  • Use an enthusiastic, hands-on approach to work.
  • Some domestic or international travel may be required.
  • Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, functional requirements and regulatory requirements.                                                                                                  
  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Lead the coordination efforts between engineering functions to define requirements related to safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialty engineering groups.
  • Develop the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • (Modeling) This includes any combination of Systems Requirements development, management, and verification, System Performance modeling, analysis, algorithm development using MATLAB and reporting, System Test planning, execution, and reporting as well as other Systems Engineering functions as required to support system development and fielding.
  • Lead analyses and design activities to optimize total system architecture.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • More than 5 years of engineering experience
  • Experience using all of the following Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Collaboration & written and verbal communication skills
  • Some domestic or international travel may be required     

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience using DOORS for requirements management
  • Experience with Cameo, Rhapsody or other modeling tools
  • Experience with MatLab

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD + 4 years related work experience, Master + 7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
