Job Responsibilities
- Support R&D Engineering with Physical Vapor Deposition coating projects and new product development.
- Assist with chemical flow coatings and preparation of samples, as directed.
- Must be able to work with operators to run Physical Vapor Deposition coating tests in vacuum chamber.
- Coordinate with Operations to schedule Physical Vapor Deposition Coating testing.
- Perform physical testing of products and use machine shop equipment to fabricate test samples/coupons, as directed.
- Independently manage day-to-day workload.
- Work under the direction of R&D engineering to directly support plant operations, as directed.
- Support R&D Engineering by performing sample preparation work in machine shop.
- Support in collection and compilation of test data.
- Support R&D activities in characterization of thin film materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in physics or material sciences. Will also accept 5 years of experience in Physical Vapor Deposition process and equipment in lieu of a degree.
- 2 Years of Physical Vapor Deposition/ Sputter coating and equipment experience to include knowledge of vacuum chambers and major components, working with machine shop equipment, and troubleshooting skills for machines and process problems.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical literature/ specifications.
- Basic computer skills with general Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
- U.S. Citizenship per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College level background in science, math and combined relevant work experience.
- Hands on sample preparation - Detail oriented and able to follow work instructions.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends to support R&D Engineering as needed/ directed.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Aerospace industry experience with an emphasis in physical vapor deposition.
- Experience with PLC and other software is a plus.
- Ability to work within a multifunctional team.
- Familiarity with Machine shop equipment.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry test standards.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communications skills.
