Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Sr.  Principal Military Trainer Leader of Multidomain Operations to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

The WCOPFOR Lead of Multidomain Operations will be joining the World Class Opposing Forces (WCOPFOR) of the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). As the WCOPFOR we assist in training of the Army Corps, Divisions, and Brigades in the Army Mission Command Systems and Operations Process. The WCOPFOR team plans, prepares, and executes five Division and/or CORPS level exercises per year.  During planning, the WCOPFOR uses the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) to produce a competitive CORPS level Operations Order. The Senior Principal Military Trainer leverages specialized expertise in planning and executing in all phases of military training exercises. They shall provide the WCOPFOR Commander analysis of the relative effectiveness of training audience and WCOPFOR multidomain operations to allow the WCOPFOR Military Staff to provide support to Operation Group requests, After Action Review (AAR) production, and development of Key Observations. Analysis must link tactical actions of both training audiences and WCOPFOR, nested with scripted operational and strategic level effects, occurring within simulation or with the implementation of analog rules and workarounds and other ECG adjudications. The analysis must provide the Commander an assessment of how multidomain operations in WFXs linked lethal and nonlethal effects across all domains and dimensions.

WCOPFOR Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mission analysis of higher headquarters guidance (CSA, FORSCOM, CAC).
  • Produce a CORPS level Operations Order.
  • Coordinate and synchronizing warfighting functions in all plans and orders.
  • Develop plans, orders, branches, and sequels.
  • Write Competitive orders for each respective Warfighter Exercise.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Acts as primary MDO Planner / advisor to the WCOPFOR Commander as part of the Special Staff.
  • Participate in the planning, preparation, execution process.
  • Operationally apply current Army and Joint Doctrine to develop War-fighting Functions (WfF) appropriate concepts for respective exercises.
  • Support the writing of WfFs Annexes at the Corps and Land Component level to direct operations based on the developed concept.
  • Integrate additional WfF personnel as required to facilitate planning and execution.
  • Develop and present appropriate training to inform exercise support staff (MCTP, HICOM, Exercise Control Group) about the WCOPFOR Scheme of Maneuver.
  • Coordinate with adjacent divisions, Operations Groups, and organizations as directed.
  • Attend weekly Exercise Planning Team (EPT) meetings as required for respective exercises to facilitate common understanding.

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 14 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
  • Successfully served in a key developmental position at Brigade/Division level (i.e., MDO or EW Officer and Operations Sergeant Major, etc.). Demonstrated tactical and technical proficiency in operational environments characterized as being contested across all domains.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Must be familiar with all new and current Army and Joint regulations and publications applicable to this position prior to employment.
  • U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Secret security clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel in the United States and overseas to support simulation-based Army training exercises as needed (up to 10 of the time).
  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
  • Former field grade officer. Can be a senior Warrant Officer, (W-4/5) or Sergeant Major (E-9).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in design, planning, configuration, and execution of large-scale computer simulation exercises
  • Previous experience in computer-assisted simulation training
  • Experience in Warfighter’s Simulation (WARSIM)
  • Prior experience as an Observer Controller/Trainer (OC/T)
  • Highly desirable to have specialized military education in multidomain or all-domain operations (ex. USAF All Domain Operational Strategist elective in ACSC).
  • Highly desirable to have served on a Joint Task Force operational or planning staff, or Division/Corps level staff positions in a Multidomain focus area.
  • Demonstrates a high understanding of capabilities and limitations of the joint force; comfortable visualizing and describing air, naval, space, cyber, and information operations and their interrelation in the joint fight.
  • Able to work closely with active-duty planners from all services and US Army technical experts in space, cyber, and special technical operations.
  • Served in a Multidomain Task Force or similar sister service organization.
  • U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Top Secret security clearance, able to be read on to TS/SCI programs.
Salary Range: $86,300 - $129,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
