ABOUT THE ROLE

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an Senior Lab Technician within Honeywell UOPs R&D Materials Characterization group located in McCook, IL. This position provides a unique opportunity to analyze samples from across R&D, Pilot Plants, and commercial refineries around the world.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our research and development efforts, with a specific focus on gas chromatography, elemental/ICP, wet chemistry, and organic analysis testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on materials and process streams from R&D laboratory and pilot plants and manufacturing following internal procedures and industry guidelines.
• Responsible for setting up instruments, analyzing samples, conducting data quality checks and entering results into laboratory information system (LIMS).
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Communicate with customers on analysis progress and results.
• Participate in method development and equipment troubleshooting activities.
• Position will include working some later shifts (eg 10am-6pm or 11am - 7pm), weekends and holidays. 

The annual base salary range for this position is $63,000 - $78,800. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. MUST HAVE

• Degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline, or 5+ years of experience in laboratory or chemical field

• Degree in Chemistry or related discipline (Biochemistry, Biology, etc).
• Experience with laboratory analyses using gas chromatography (GC), elemental (ICP, XRF), wet chemistry, organic physical properties (distillations, density, flashpoint, cloud point) testing techniques, viscosity, etc.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of ASTM or UOP methods and UOP materials and processes
