Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Storeroom Supervisor, this position involves heavy physical effort along with the knowledge of and ability to perform the many manual tasks necessary to maintain the central stores warehouse and other inventory activities at the Pittsburgh International Airport.


Here is how the Storeroom Laborer will help:  

  • Performs other related work as assigned or directed.
  • Work safely and abide by all ACAA safety guidelines.
  • Develop or participate in the job safety analysis procedures.
  • Cleans Facilities Storeroom area as needed to ensure a clean and safe work environment, which includes dusting shelves and sweeping the floor.
  • Maintains an orderly and organized storeroom with pallet racks, etc. kept in the proper location.
  • Input into J.D. Edwards - Purchase Order numbers (P.O.) on the All Purchase Order Lines – opened and closed screens to determine the buyers name for items received, as required.
  • Input into J.D. Edwards, the Item Numbers for the stock items on the inventory – Item Information – Stock item master screen, in order to verify information such as quantity, location and unit of measure as required.
  • Inputs P.O. numbers on the Enter Receipts by the purchase order screen in order to receive items on an occasional or limited basis.
  • Stock supplies within the appropriate areas of the Facilities Maintenance storeroom.
  • Maintain a record of material receipts utilizing the receiving log book.
  • Verify incoming shipments against the original purchase order, packing list, and freight bill to ensure order has been shipped correctly by supplier.
  • Checks materials received and contact vendors to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Inspect goods received for quality control purposes.
  • Moves shipments of materials or supplies to the correct warehouse location for stock items.
  • Pertaining to non-stock items, places the order with copies of the packing list in the receiving/pending issue location and notifies ship supervisor that the order has been received.
  • Issues stock items to Facilities and Field Maintenance personnel using the central stores requisition form.
  • Receives and distributes linen to the ACAA Fire Department on a weekly basis.
  • Pre-loads cleaning supplies weekly on pallets pending pick-up by the airport authority cleaning contractor.
  • Maintains quantity balances on the inventory location records by category and sub-object group for storeroom stock items.
  • Delivers items ordered to all administrative offices once received.
  • Operates manual/electric pallet truck and electric Yale stacker/reach truck.
  • Assists in the year-end physical inventory.
  • Works with a high degree of responsibility and awareness for the safety practices and standards of an international airport in these and other similar types of tasks assigned to a storeroom laborer.
  • Performs other related work as assigned or directed.


Qualifications

Requirements to apply for role of Storeroom Laborer are:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Possess or obtain prior to employment, a valid Pennsylvania Class C drivers’ license:   Note: license must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Must provide his/her own personal protective footwear (safety shoes).
  • Must adhere to ACAA guidelines set forth by the Department of Maintenance Dress Code and Personal Protective Equipment Policy.


We also expect that candidates will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in most cases:  

  • High level of detail and organizational skills.
  • Some knowledge of the Windows based computer software, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work with the purchasing and inventory modules of the J.D. Edwards.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and techniques of safety precautions and injury prevention programs.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.  Reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch or crawl, climb, balance and kneel.   Considerable ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.   Hearing ability must meet the standards / levels, as required by the Department of Transportation guidelines.   

 

CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, aircraft, heavy equipment and vehicles. The employee may be required to work in outside weather conditions exposed to lights, noises, fuels and chemicals associated with aircraft and heavy equipment, and to all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently very loud.   Employee may be assigned to additional shifts, which encompass a twenty-four hour day, seven day per week operation, including holidays.  Subject to remain on duty beyond assigned working hours to provide assistance during emergency situations, peak periods or extenuating circumstances.
