As our Warehouse Automation Jambuster based at our Retail Operations Centre 5 days a week, youll have a crucial role in our warehouse environment, youll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our multishuttle automated systems. This role involves troubleshooting, resolving jams, and maintaining the efficiency and uptime of our automated material handling systems. What you’ll be doing:
- Continuously oversee the operation of the multishuttle system to identify and address any performance issues, jams, or irregularities in real-time.
- Respond promptly to system alerts or manual reports of jams, utilising appropriate tools and techniques to safely clear obstructions and restore normal operation.
- Collaborate closely with the VDL engineering team & control room to escalate more complex issues and ensure that all necessary repairs and adjustments are made to maintain system efficiency.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, ensuring that all interventions are carried out in a manner that minimises risks to personnel and equipment including resolving spills.
- Identify patterns or recurring issues that may cause jams and work with the warehouse operations team to implement process improvements or system adjustments.
- Be prepared to act swiftly in the event of critical system failures, coordinating with relevant teams to minimise downtime and operational disruptions.
- Manage the repair process of manual handling equipment such as carts, trollies, atlas boxes, bond-bags & pallet trucks.
- Be able to cover & support the control room team when required.
- Occasionally there may be times when required to work at height.
What you’ll have:
- Prior experience working with multishuttle systems or similar automated warehouse technologies, ensuring smooth operation and troubleshooting common issues.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve jams and other disruptions within automated warehouse environments.
- Strong attention to detail to monitor and respond to potential issues before they escalate into larger problems, ensuring continuous system operation.
- Ability to safely navigate tight spaces, and manually clear jams or obstructions.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with warehouse managers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders regarding operational status and any issues encountered.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols relevant to working in an automated warehouse environment, with a focus on minimising risks when addressing jams or other system disruptions & leading a safe working environment culture.
